The trip from Haridwar to Barkot is about 176–220 km and takes around 6–7 hours through the beautiful Garhwal Himalayas.

Your route passes through Dehradun and the popular hill area of Mussoorie. Along the way, you will stop at Kempty Falls, a well-known waterfall surrounded by lush mountains, ideal for a short break and photos.

After this refreshing stop, continue the drive to Barkot along winding roads and through picturesque valleys. By evening, you will arrive at your hotel, check in, enjoy dinner, and rest for the night in Barkot, getting ready for your upcoming pilgrimage days.

Day 02 Barkot → Yamunotri → Barkot

Day 2: Barkot – Yamunotri – Barkot

(Approx. 42 km drive + ~6 km trek each way)

After a healthy breakfast, you’ll start your spiritual journey with a 42 km drive from Barkot to Janki Chatti, the starting point for the Yamunotri trek. From Janki Chatti, begin the roughly 6 km uphill trek to the sacred Yamunotri Temple, which is dedicated to Goddess Yamuna and located in the beautiful Garhwal Himalayas.

The trek generally takes about 3 to 4 hours each way, depending on your pace and fitness level. Along the path, you’ll see views of the Himalayas, walk through forest trails, and breathe in the fresh mountain air. Ponies, palkis (palanquins), and porters are available for those who want help on the uphill climb.

Once you arrive at the Yamunotri Temple, take part in the darshan and enjoy the calm atmosphere. After your visit and some rest, start your trek back down to Janki Chatti, where your driver will be ready to take you to your hotel in Barkot. Unwind with dinner and enjoy an overnight stay back in Barkot.

The trip takes you through stunning Himalayan valleys, riverside roads, and green forests as you gradually ascend into the heart of the Garhwal region.

Upon arriving in Uttarkashi, you will be taken straight to your hotel, where you can relax and enjoy the rest of the day at your own pace. Uttarkashi is not just a gateway to Gangotri Dham; it also has ancient temples and calm riverside areas, making it a nice spot to unwind before the journey the next day.

In the evening, if you like, you can offer prayers at the famous Kashi Vishwanath Temple. This vital shrine for Lord Shiva is located near the Bhagirathi River and is known for its peaceful atmosphere and spiritual importance.
