Gangotri Temple is one of the holiest Hindu shrines, dedicated to Maa Ganga, the sacred river believed to wash away all sins. Located at 3,100 meters in the Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand, this historic temple is a major part of the Char Dham Yatra.
As per Hindu belief, Maa Ganga descended on Earth at this very place to purify the ancestors of King Bhagirath after his deep tapasya. The idol of Ganga Maa, installed inside the white stone temple, is worshipped with great devotion from Akshay Tritiya to Diwali, after which she is worshipped in Mukhba village during winters.
Surrounded by the holy Bhagirathi River, snow-covered peaks, and Himalayan serenity — Gangotri Temple is a spiritual destination where devotees experience eternal peace, purity, and divine grace. It is believed that visiting Gangotri with a pure heart grants freedom from negative karma and leads the soul toward liberation.
