Kedarnath Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas and one of the most sacred pilgrimage sites of Sanatan Dharma. Standing at 3,583 meters amidst the mighty Himalayan peaks, this ancient temple is a symbol of unshakeable faith, devotion and divine power.
As per Hindu belief, after the Mahabharata war, the Pandavas sought forgiveness for their sins. Lord Shiva, avoiding them, took the form of a bull and vanished into the ground here — leaving behind His hump, which is worshipped as the main Shivling inside the Garbhagriha. This sacred tradition links Kedarnath to Panch Kedar, making it extremely holy and spiritually potent.
The temple is surrounded by breathtaking snow-clad mountains including the Kedar Dome and Mandakini River flows nearby, adding purity and serenity to the divine environment. It is believed that a true darshan of Kedarnath Ji destroys negative karma and grants liberation (*moksha*), making this pilgrimage a once-in-a-lifetime spiritual blessing.
