Badrinath Temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu as Shri Badri Vishal, is one of the most sacred shrines in India and the prominent dham of the Char Dham Yatra. Situated at an elevation of 3,300 meters, the temple stands peacefully between the Nar and Narayan mountain ranges in the Himalayas.
According to ancient belief, Lord Vishnu meditated here for thousands of years, protected by Badri (berry) trees that formed a natural shelter — hence the name *Badrinath*. The idol of Shri Badri Vishal is made of black Shaligram stone and radiates immense spiritual energy and blessings.
The holy Tapt Kund outside the temple is believed to be a divine hot-water spring with the power to purify body and soul before darshan. The sacred river Alaknanda flows beside the temple, and pilgrims believe that a heartfelt visit to Badrinath removes past karmas and leads the soul towards salvation (*moksha*).
