About Adi Shankaracharya Samadhi

Adi Shankaracharya Samadhi at Kedarnath is a sacred site honoring Jagadguru Adi Shankaracharya, the great 8th-century saint and philosopher who revived Sanatan Dharma and the Char Dham Yatra tradition across India.

It is believed that after restoring Kedarnath Temple and establishing Hindu spiritual unity, Adi Shankaracharya took Mahasamadhi here at the age of just 32. This divine place symbolizes his eternal presence, wisdom and unmatched contribution to Dharma.

The newly constructed Samadhi memorial, surrounded by serene Himalayan peaks near Kedarnath Temple, is a beautifully designed spiritual space where devotees come to pay homage and connect with the teachings of Advaita Vedanta — the philosophy of oneness of the soul with the Supreme.
